A : The health benefits from coffee are due to its antioxidants; http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/04/28/coffee.studies/index.html
As far as weight loss, i am not so sure on that one.
Is drinking one or two cups of decaf coffee with two splenda packets each okay for a weight loss diet?
Q : I have a guy that I'm trying to lose with running a few miles a day and ab workouts. I'm drinking only water and drinking only baked/grilled meats, vegetables, and some fruits. Nothing else. Is drinking the above mentioned amount and type of coffee going to be okay?
Thanks in advance!
A : Ok I had to thumbs down that guy. Splenda has NO aspartame in it. It is sugar that is hydrogenated making it harder to break down basically. So it takes about 4 times the amount of splenda as sugar to have the same affect on glucose levels.
The problem with Splenda is that in independent studies it showed to also lower the absorption of minerals and vitamins and other nutrients from the foods you eat. This is likely due to the fact that it is hydrogenated. Just like trans fat and hydrogenated oils clog the arteries and stick to the cells preventing insulin from being able to which is what causes type 2 diabetes and heart disease in most cases. So now they want you to clog your colon with hydrogenated sugar preventing you from getting nutrients from the food you eat too now?
To answer your question yes splenda will help you lose weight. Anything that helps you keep your blood sugar below 100 will help you lose weight. But it will harden your colon wall just like hydrogenated oils harden your arteries.
If you want to lose weight the best thing you can do is keep blood sugar low and raise your metabolism. Do this by never eating sugar, granulated or brown, starch, potato starch, corn starch, chips, tortillas, bread, simple carbs, food starch, modified food starch, syrup, high fructose corn syrup etc. Also eat lots of soluble fiber. Green leafy veggies, green beans, high pectin green apples (never eat granny smith), 100 % whole grain bread with no additives or preservatives, pecans, peanuts, walnuts, almonds and pistachios and whole wheat pasta. Always eat protein and soluble fiber first before a carb. Eat protein, soluble fiber and complex carbs with every meal. 2 green apples a day. Slice them up and add all natural no additive peanut butter to each slice. Use pecans to balance glucose levels, they are magical. If blood sugar is too high they will lower it and if it is too low they will raise it.
Half a red potato is ok before working out but no other potato is ever ok and never at any other time. They are worse than eating pure sugar.
A 3:1 ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 is necessary. So fish, olive oil, nuts and flax seeds are awesome. This raises good cholesterol and lowers bad. Also red meat must be limited to once a week, chicken or turkey breast to a few times a week. They have high levels of bad cholesterol that clog the cells and prevent sugar burn off. Low magnesium fish is best... cod, tilapia and salmon are perfect.
An ideal diet would consist of an egg white avocado omelet with fresh veggies or salsa cooked in olive oil and an 8th of a cup of cooked oatmeal with cinnamon and nutmeg topped with crushed pecans for breakfast. A green apple with a spoon of natural peanut butter for a snack. A Fish sandwich that is more like a salad on 100% whole grain no additive bread and pecans for lunch. A green apple with mixed nuts for snack. Salmon with broccoli, avocado and whole wheat pasta or long grain brown rice for dinner, and greek yogurt with pecans before bed. Wake up in the middle of the night hungry? drink a cup of Silk, a few pecans and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese and go back to sleep. Why Silk? Even skim milk has almost as much sugar as what a diabetic needs to quickly raise glucose levels when blood sugars drop dangerously low.
Follow a diet similar to this and you should watch yourself shed fat and build muscle fast! If you just absolutely have to have sweetener in your coffee in the morning, either cut out the coffee (trust me you wont need it on this diet) or use honey. It's not much better than sugar on glucose levels but at least its better for your body as a whole. Even better? Add cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar free hershey's syrup to your coffee. Cinnamon is awesome because it acts like insulin helping you burn sugar faster without the need for extra insulin. To further raise your metabolism add supplements of vitamin c, b12 and d as well as calcium. If you have type 2 diabetes also add a supplement called MDM 10mg a day but not for less than 3 months or more than 12.
It is ok to eat half of a red potatoe or something equivilant before working out. Before work out would be a good time to get your chocolate milk fix if you just have to have it.
Can drinking coffee help with weight loss?
Q : I mean, BLACK coffee. Does it help not crave more sweets? It does give your more energy, thus a better work out and speeds up the metabolism, and keeps you pretty full.
A : Yes, coffee can help you lose weight, but not specifically like is mentioned above. Coffee acts as a natural laxative and diuretic causing a slightly increased output in bodily fluids. Although not recommended as a diet aid or means of nutrition, can coffee satisfy hunger while flushing out toxins at the same time. But what you are mostly losing is water weight.
There is however a new coffee that is being released sometime around Thanksgiving that can help you lose weight, and more specifically in the ways that you mentioned. It's produced by Boresha Coffee, and the line is called Skinny Science Coffee. It is 100% Organic, Arabica bean, infrared roasted coffee. It's is so new, and such a hot commodity that it can only be purchased by a distributor, and they already have forms piling up for the first purchase of it.
You can learn more about it at http://www.boreshaskinnnycoffee.com
or www.skinnysciencecoffee.com.
Also, it is low glycemic and therefore a great alternative for diabetics, or those trying to stabilize their blood sugars.
They are also releasing a Skinny Creamer, Skinny Tea, and Skinny Sweetener around the same time. It's is all natural and a VERY healthy way to enjoy your cup of joe and still keep the quality of flavor and aroma that we all love.
If you would like more information, or would like to try a sample pack of their original coffee you can get one here at http://igetpaidtodrinkcoffee.com/angelascoffeeshop, or you can email me at angela@boreshaskinnycoffee.com
Best of Luck,

Does caffeinated coffee help or hinder weight loss?
Q : I don't need to lose weight (on the contrary, actually) but I'm curious. I've heard lots of different things about caffeine and coffee. I've heard that they speed up your metabolism, thus burning more fat and helping you lose weight, but then I've also heard that it triggers hunger and insulin problems that lead to weight gain. What's the truth? Source would be preferred but not necessary. Thank you for your time.
A : Caffeine may promote both weight loss or the opposite. Caffeine may give a boost to your metabolism, but as it's after-effect, it gives you an urge to "pig-out" at meal time or even in-between-meal snacks.
