Coffee Extract Have Caffeine Answer Question
Maria asks…In what solvents is Caffeine more soluble in than in water? For my chemistry practical, I've hit upon the idea of extracting caffeine from Coffee using the partition coefficient (which I also plan to work out), and solvent extraction between layers. Is there a general way of finding a solvent in which Caffeine will dissolve more readily than in water, or a mathematical principle to find such information out. I also need the solvent to be readily available, as I have not got the resources of a University available to me. (I have already researched options such as Chloroform, and am not sure If such a compound would be available)coffeeblogs answers:You could try this procedure http://www.seriaz.org/downloads/4-caffiene.pdf and replace the methylene chloride with some other lowCoffee Extract Have Caffeine Answer Question
