What is a common use of the pulp of the berry of a coffee bean?

Q : I know it can be used as fertilizer, but is it edible?
A : Coffee beans are nasty until they are left in their pod for a while to ferment, and the pulp helps it do this. i think this is true but it might only be true in coco beans

Where can I find coffee made by grinding the whole berry?

Q : The berry is the coffee bean the way it comes from the plant with the outer covering still on.
A : I've only seen green beans for sale, thats what I buy.
When I roast them, the husks come off.

are the red berries from a coffee bush safe to eat?

Q : i have a coffee bush that has red berries which contain the coffee beans inside. i wonder if both the fruit/berries and the seeds/beans are safe to eat.
A : Sure - they don't taste very well, but they're safe to eat!

That's how coffee was originally "invented" - or discovered.
A shephers saw his herd eat the berries, and he noticed they were more playfull and lively afterwards.

People probably just ate the berries in the beginning as well.
