Q : I have been growing a coffee plant for about a year and 4 mo, and it is doing very well but no berries,beans yet.A : According to "CoffeeFair.com" (see online) it take a plant 3-4 years to mature and start producing flowers which if pollenized will become berries.

A : Coffee beans are nasty until they are left in their pod for a while to ferment, and the pulp helps it do this. i think this is true but it might only be true in coco beans

Q : The berry is the coffee bean the way it comes from the plant with the outer covering still on.
A : I've only seen green beans for sale, thats what I buy.
When I roast them, the husks come off.

A : Sure - they don't taste very well, but they're safe to eat!

People probably just ate the berries in the beginning as well.
